Phoenix FM
Phoenix FM was formed in August 1996 as "The Phoenix" with the aim of bringing a new community-based local radio service to Brentwood and Billericay and surrounding areas. In April 1999, the station changed its name from "The Phoenix" to "Phoenix FM". We also moved our headquarters from Brentwood Borough Council's Tourist Information Offices in Ongar Road to a new home in the Hermitage Arts Centre in Shenfield Road. In June 2001 we became one of the first stations in the UK, and the first community station, to stream programmes on the internet.We moved to our third and final temporary home in December 2001 – Hutton Poplars Lodge in Shenfield.We spent 10 years of lobbying The Radio Authority and its successor, Ofcom, and in that time we undertook 12 short term broadcasts:
