KJCY
KJCY 95.5 FM is a 6,000-watt station and 24-hour radio ministry that caps an effort that began in 1995 with a group of Mitchell County residents who had joined together with KJLY in an effort to bring Christian radio to the Mitchell County area. After many frustrated attempts in trying to establish a “translator” (repeater) station for the St. Ansgar-Osage area, a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) freeze on translator applications caused the original committee to set aside the plan for such a Christian radio ministry. Though disappointed, the committee and KJLY never stopped praying that the Lord would someday “open a door” for such a ministry. Those prayers were answered in August 2000 when KJLY received a phone call from an individual who had a permit from the FCC to build and operate a full power station in St. Ansgar.
