it is in my best interest to note that on the previous day, the U.S. Marine Corps celebrated 235 years in existence. My dear friend Bill Broadie from Ashland, Kan., would not let me live it down if I didn't remind you of that. Broadie is a Vietnam War veteran and founder of the All American Beef Battalion.The Beef Battalion was formed two-and-a-half years ago with the mission of thanking the troops by feeding them a rib-eye steak dinner either upon deployment or return from Iraq or Afghanistan. I have been fortunate to be a part of six of these dinners, but a group of dedicated and tireless volunteers from the Garden City Rodeo Committee have now fed in excess of 50,000 service personnel and their families in that short period of time.
