Fucion 88.3 – KMSC
KMSC went on the air in April, 1978 as a “Class D” non-commercial/educational F.M. station operating at 88.3 megahertz with a power of 10 watts. The studios were originally located in Lewis Hall, were moved to the basement of The Commons in 1989 and were finally moved to the library building in the 1990s. The station adopted the college alternative format in 1996 after many years programming a typical educational radio block format. Equipment and facilities have varied over the years from “bailing wire and bubble gum” to “state of the art”. New mixing boards and other major equipment upgrades were completed in recent years, including the purchase of new computers and radio production software as well as major additions to KMSC’s studio and remote broadcasting capabilities.
