KISU-FM

On June 4, 1999, KISU-FM radio signed on the air for the first time with a tiny broadcast power of just 450 watts, barely making a ripple in the east Idaho radio world. Today with transmitters in both Pocatello and Idaho Falls, KISU broadcasts to a potential audience of almost 180,000 residents and an ever-growing number of public radio fans. KISU consistently has more listeners than many commercial stations in the market. KISU is also well-known for promoting local cultural and public affairs events through partnerships with Idaho State University, the Idaho State Civic Symphony, the Idaho Falls Arts Council, the City Club of Idaho Falls and other similar organizations.On that day in June of 1999, all of KISU's programs came from outside sources like National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI), along with many other independent program producers.
