About Dayton Public Schools Dayton Public Schools is an urban district of more than 15,000 students in pre-kindergarten through high school with the second highest graduation rate (83.3%) among Ohio’s big city districts and more National Board Certified teachers than any other district in the Dayton region. One of our high schools, Stivers School for the Arts, was ranked among America’s best public high schools for the second year in a row and moved up from bronze to silver, in U.S. News & World Report. DPS has produced 19 Gates millennium scholars since 2000, and four National Coca-Cola Finalists since 2003, two of which were national winners.In the 2008-2009 school year, DPS high schools collectively improved in every subject area on the Ohio Graduation Test.
