Anchor Baptist Broadcasting Association began in December of 1986 with the purchase of WGCR radio in Brevard, NC. What was WGCR, great country radio, became WGCR, Gospel Carolina Radio, in January of 1987, as a non-commercial, not-for profit 1,000 watt, daytime, radio station located at 720 on the AM dial; and over the past 20 plus years has endeavored to be a 2 x 4 ministry…To the Local Church, By the Local Church, and For the Local Church. WGCR is a listener-supported station, broadcasting traditional hymns, conservative classic southern Gospel music and some of America's finest Bible (KJV) preaching. The Lord allowed WGCR to increase its power to 10,000 watts in 1989, and then to 25,000 watts in January of 2008.
