The station call letters were WSMC-FM, and the station was authorized to operate at 10 watts on the frequency of 88.1 mHz.Back to Top1961 – Programming Went LiveIn November of 1961, WSMC aired program tests. Tests showed that a radio signal could be received as far as Signal Mountain. Programming went live in 1961.Back to Top1967 – FCC Granted Power Increase to 80,000 WattsThe FCC granted a power increase to 80,000 watts at 90.7 mHz. WRCB-TV donated a tower to WSMC that stood 200 feet high and was located 1,422 feet above sea level on White Oak Mountain.
